Missä naistenlehdet luuraavat?
Paljon on käsiä väännelty siitä, kuinka sanomalehdet ovat nesteessä webin kanssa. Voi olla, mutta ainakin sanomalehdissä on älytty, mihin yleisö on mennyt ja menossa.
Mediakentässä on kuitenkin ryhmä, joka ei ole löytänyt verkkoa lainkaan. Kyseessä ovat naistenlehdet.
Tilannetta kuvaa se, että Suomen kolmen levikiltään suurimman naisten yleislehden (Kodin Kuvalehti, Kotivinkki ja Kotiliesi) web-sivujen kävijälukuja ei mitata TNS Metrixillä (tai ainakaan lukuja ei ilmoiteta julkisesti). Kaksi seuraavaksi suurinta eli Anna ja Me Naiset listalta sentään löytyvät, joskin hyvin vaatimattomilla luvuilla: viikkokävijöitä kummallakin on selvästi alle 10 000 kappaletta.
Kävijöiden pieni määrä on sitäkin surkeampi, kun kävijämäärä suhteutetaan levikkiin. Printtilevikki/viikkokävijät-suhdeluvun pitäisi mielestäni lähestyä yhtä tai jopa mennä sen alle. Annalla ja Me Naisilla luvut ovat 16,8 ja 13. Alle ykkösen aikakauslehdistä pääsevät tietysti muun muassa Mikrobitti (0,4) ja Tietokone (0,8).
Kuulen jo vasta-argumentin: helpohan se nörttilehdillä on, kun yleisö jo valmiiksi näprää koneiden kanssa. Onhan se noinkin, mutta vastaavia esimerkkejä löytyy myös perhelehtien puolelta: Vauva-lehden tunnusluku on 0,8. Naiskohderyhmää, joskin nuorempaa sellaista, palvelee myös Demi, joka pääsee suhdelukuun 1,3.
Demi ja Vauva ainakin osoittavat, että naisryhmää voi puhutella ja palvella verkossakin. Miksi suuret naistenlehdet sitten eivät palvele? Veikkaan, että lehtien toimituksissa ei ole oikein keksitty, mitä verkossa pitäisi tehdä. Tästä kertovat karusti edellä mainittujen suurten naistenlehtien saitit, joissa on kovin vähän sisältöä. Kotilieden tilanne on kaikkein surkein: sen web-ulottuvuus koostuu simppelistä tilaa lehti -sivusta.
Naistenlehtien uinuessa suuret portaalit ovat napanneet niiden yleisön. MTV3:n Helmi ja Plazan Ellit tarjoavat sen, mitä annat ja mimmit eivät. Saa nähdä, onko lehdillä enää mitään keinoja (tai haluja) käydä skabaamaan näistä yleisöistä.

Hommaan on selityksenä useita syitä.
Liiketoimintana netti ei ole vieläkään kovin kannattavaa. Lisäksi homma on pahasti etupainoista, eli ensin pitää pistää rahat likoon ja sitten vasta näkee, tulevatko lukijat ja tämänkin jälkeen saa vielä jännittää mainostajia.
Nettimainonta on ihan lapsenkengissä esimerkiksi Skandinaviaan verrattuna. Sikäli en ole huolissani tulevaisuudesta ja rahasta, että mainostajien on pakko seurata yleisöä. Netissä tavataan. Fiksuimmat tämän ovat toki jo oivaltaneet.
Aikakauslehdistä puuttuu myös osaamista siitä, miten mediabrändi laajennetaan nettiin. Konseptiosaajia on loppujen lopuksi aika harvassa.
Lisäksi joissain lehdissä on ollut vielä vähän ilmapiiriä, että netti on jotenkin epäkelpo väline. Onneksi nämä asenteet ovat olleet vain yksilötasolla, eivät organisaatioissa.
Kovaa työtä tuo vaatii, mutta muutama onnistuminen (Vauva, Demi...) todistavat, että se on mahdollista.

"Liiketoimintana netti ei ole kannattavaa" -argumenttia esitetään aika usein. Minä en enää tätä usko: skeptikot voivat mennä kysymään asiaa toisesta suuresta iltapäivälehdestä. Eivät ne vastaa, tietenkään, mutta syy on eri kuin yleensä luullaan.
Osaamisargumentti on varmasti totta. Sen näkee mm. siitä, miten suurin osa aikakauslehdistä ei ymmärrä, että web voi olla muutakin kuin lehden esittely tai lehden sisältö sähköisessä muodossa. Tai edes sitä, että miten sillä uudella muodolla saataisiin lehden sisällöstä uusia asioita irti ja enemmän kiinnostavuutta.
Ja merkittävässä määrin tämä tietysti kiertyy resursointiin, mutta siitä en nyt jaksa kirjoittaa, kun alkaa itkettää.

Käytännössä lehden verkkoliiketoiminta voi olla liiketoimintaa vain, jos se on verkossa jotain muuta kuin lehti. Mutta onko lehdellä todella oltava liiketoimintaa netissä?

Ei tietenkään ole oltava. Positiiviset esimerkit edellä ja muualla vain näyttävät, että verkosta on saatavana yleisöä ja liikevaihtoa. Se tuppaa yleensä kiinnostamaan kustantajia, varsinkin jos vanha liiketoimintamalli alkaa osoittaa kulumisen merkkejä.

Teppo: voi olla. Tuossa yllä toisaalta esiteltiin aika selvästi lean back -medioita, jotka ovat (ainakin lukijamäärällä mitaten) onnistuneet netissä.
Ei kai se nettimenestys mitenkään vähennä selluloosalehden lean back -ominaisuutta?

Jälkimmäisessä pointissa olen 100% samaa mieltä, Kari. Nettiinhän tehdään lean backista eri tuote, joka hyödyntää printin brandia. Ehkä vaan tuossa on se hankaluus, ettei brandia, joka on luotu vapaa-ajan, kampaajan odotustuolissa istumisen ja hemmotteluvinkkien maistelun varaa, osata ihan luontevasti siirtää nettiin, jonka iso osa naisista (ihan fiksusti) liittää lähinnä töihin.
Olisiko helpompi rakentaa tyhjästä uudentyyppinen tuote naisille, tyyppiluokkaa Ellit?

Very interesting way to market on facebook. I also found a way to automate a couple very powerful methods of getting users. You can grab ID by groups or pages or wall posts with this program. The response level to national disaster is awesome but it's a damn shame that so many people take advantage of the sad situations.
I mean everytime there is an earthquake, a flood, an oil spill - there's always a group of heartless people who rip off tax payers.
This is in response to reading that 4 of Oprah Winfreys "angels" got busted ripping off the system. Shame on them!
